Yosh Natural Perfumes

Discovering a new niche perfume line is a joy seldom acheived; therefore, when I find something magical I embrace it with full force. Yosh Han is a fellow natural perfumer. That means she does not use alcohol creating her perfumes, instead she uses a base of natural oils.
I discovered Yosh's wears from Lucky Scent.com. I often will purchase samples of various perfumes to test them out as they carry many niche lines. It is a perfect opportunity to travel with scent when you do not have access to such lines in your place of residence. Unfortuneately, Santa Fe lacks a good selection of perfumes, alas we plan to change that at Apothecurio.

My favorite Yosh Perfume is The Heart is Decietful Above All Things. It was created for the author JT LeRoy for the novel of the same title. It is a remarkable scent either truly loved or hated with notes of bay rum, massoia, vanilla, earth, and fig. I love the moody longing of the scent. It is truly unique. In fact, I have had people follow me and stop me to find out the source of the beautious odor.
It you have an opportunity to test Yosh give the Sweet Suite a try. It is a flight of scent from Yosh's collection with 6 sample scents.

Cire Trudon

I "LOVE" a candle invoking "mossy stone, cloisters, and convents."  A recent trip to Barney's in Las Vegas gave way to a joyful scent journey with the new (but I hear old) line from Cire Trudon of France.  They hand blow the glass for each candle and have some rapturous scents for the home.  The Carmelite Candle does share the echoes of a musty stone building with lots of green damp earth around.  Available at Barney's, $75.

Burren Perfumery, Ireland

Last year I had the opportunity to travel to Ireland, to tie the knot.  One of the most illuminating experiences of the trip was the Burren Perfumery, in County Clare, Ireland.  It was lovely to see their gardens and peak into their laboratory.  Very classic scents, my favorite being the Man of Aran.  Green notes with a masculine edge. I wear it often and it takes me right back to the green isle of Ireland.  I can't wait to carry this in our store.  Until then, you can visit the Burren Perfumery.

Salutations

The nip of fall is creeping upon us in the land of enchantment.  The hillsides of the Sangre de Cristos will soon be wrapped in the yellow of the aspen trees.  I know that the close of the summer nears when I can smell the chile roasting from the street side vendors.  This is an inspiring time for scent for a perfumer, especially one who resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  I sit in front of my note organ and contemplate the next effervescent melody of notes.  The spicier tones play for me in the guise of Pepper and Nutmeg.  I never know what will manifest in my humble attempts for something new.
I look forward to having you join me on these journeys of scent.  Who knows where we will travel together, I do hope it is captivating.
